Invitation

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
Dear Colleagues and Members of OMEP from around the world,

On behalf of the Polish OMEP Committee and the academic authorities of the Faculty of Educational Studies at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, I am delighted to invite you to participate in the 78th World Assembly and Conference, which will take place in the beautiful city of Poznań, Poland. The theme of the event is: “When a Child Speaks... Korczak’s Inspirations for Education and Children’s Rights.” This exceptional event will provide an opportunity for deep reflection on the educational philosophy of Janusz Korczak — a visionary, advocate for children’s rights, and creator of the “home for children” concept.

The primary goal of the conference is to create spaces and contexts conducive to understanding Korczak’s message: that active and attentive listening to children’s voices is vital for supporting their development, sense of security, and mutual respect. Sensitivity to what children say, how they say it, and what they need is the foundation for building authentic relationships and supporting their comprehensive development. We believe that listening to children is not only meaningful but essential in the process of education and upbringing, as it reflects their inner world and allows us to recognize and nurture their resources and needs.

During the conference, we will also explore the balance between emotions and intellect in early education, inspired by Korczak’s values and vision. Our aim is to collectively consider how his ideas can inspire modern approaches to children’s education and upbringing, and how these values can be practically implemented in daily educational practice to create an environment that fosters the full and happy development of each child.
Poznań, a city rich in history and culture, provides an ideal backdrop for this gathering. As a historic and cultural center of Poland, it has long been a place where ideas and innovations meet. The event is organized by the Polish OMEP Committee and Adam Mickiewicz University — an institution with over a century of tradition in science, education, and research on child development, which initiates and supports initiatives aimed at high-quality education and children’s rights.

We warmly invite researchers, practitioners, educators, psychologists, doctors, policymakers, and all those involved in shaping the future of the youngest generations to participate. The conference aims to create a platform for exchanging experiences, inspiration, and the joint search for solutions that will contribute to ensuring children’s right to a happy, dignified life and education at the highest level.
I firmly believe that together we can inspire change, making the world a more child-friendly place that respects their rights.

We look forward to welcoming you!

Sincerely,

Renata Michalak
